For us at NaturaBase, kayaking on Lake Kawaguchi is the most direct way to experience Mt. Fuji.
Sunrise (5:00–7:30am): The Calmest Water of the Day
We always schedule our tours early in the morning because this is when the lake is at its most stable.
On calm days, Mt. Fuji reflects clearly on the water, and everything becomes very still—no waves, almost no sound.
We often see guests stop paddling just to take it in:
“It felt like the whole lake disappeared into the mountain.”
Easy and Relaxed for Beginners
Most of our guests are first-time kayakers. We choose routes based on wind and water
conditions so the experience stays comfortable and safe.
If conditions change, we adjust the direction of the tour to find the calmest areas of the lake.
Seasonal Differences We Notice
Every season feels different from the water:
● Spring: cherry blossoms along the shoreline
● Summer: cool air during early sunrise
● Autumn: very clear reflections after rain
● Winter: the strongest Mt. Fuji visibility
Winter mornings are especially impressive when the air is dry and still.
After the Lake Experience
Many of our guests continue their journey into the nearby forest area for a completely
different landscape experience.
